The NPCA offers hunting and fishing opportunities at a number of its conservation areas. The guide below provides general information for available activities at each conservation area. For detailed hunting information and restrictions, click here.

Hunting blinds at Binbrook and Mud Lake Conservation Areas are available by lottery only for the first two weeks of the waterfowl hunting season. To participate in the lottery, submit the online form(s) by August 31st. Winners will be drawn on September 1st and will be notified by mail.

Ice fishing is available exclusively at Binbrook and huts can be rented when ice conditions are favourable.

Fishing and Hunting Licences are Required

All provincial regulations, seasonal restrictions, and conservation area rules must be followed. Please remember Conservation Areas are open to the public and are frequently used for hiking and bird watching. A NPCA permit is required to hunt on all NPCA lands. Ball’s Falls Heritage

Fish on Twenty Mile Creek, below the escarpment for bass, lake trout, rainbow trout, salmon, pumpkinseed and carp.

 

Binbrook

Fish in Lake Niapenco or on shore for northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white and black crappie, yellow perch, pumpkinseed, rock bass, brown bullhead and carp. This area features a boat launch and wheelchair access fishing pier.

Binbrook is NPCA’s exclusive Ice Fishing location. Ice fishing huts are available for rent when ice conditions are favourable.

A controlled waterfowl hunt starts the end of September and runs Mondays and Saturdays only until the second week in December, 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ten hunting blinds are available (lottery draw for first two weeks of season). Fee applies.

Note: Catch and release presently for walleye (pickeral), northern pike, and bass. This is to enable the fish population to grow for future fishing.

 

Canborough Weir

Fish on the Welland River for northern pike, grass pickerel, pumpkin seed, white sucker and carp.

 

Chippawa Creek

Fish in Dils Lake or the Welland River for largemouth bass, northern pike, pumpkinseed, bluegill, yellow perch, white and black crappie, channel catfish and carp. This area features a boat launch and wheelchair access fishing pier and boardwalk. Fishing season opens the last Saturday in June through November.

Hunting is permitted for deer, small game and waterfowl from September to February on south side of Regional Rd. 45 only.

E.C. Brown

Fish in the Welland River for pike, walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, crappie, brown and yellow bullhead, rock bass, white sucker, channel catfish, pumpkinseed and carp. Boat launch available.

 

Hedley Forest

Hunting permitted for deer and small game.

 

Humberstone Marsh

Hunting is permitted for deer and small game.

 

Long Beach

Fish for walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, largemouth and smallmouth bass, rock bass, bullhead and channel catfish in Lake Erie. Boat launch available.

Hunting is permitted for deer and small game on the north side of Regional Rd. 3 only.

 

Mud Lake

Fish in Mud Lake for largemouth bass, pumpkin seed, brown bullhead and rock bass.

Controlled waterfowl hunting begins end of September and runs on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through early November during posted times. See sign at entrance for times. Three blinds are provided (lottery draw for first two weeks of season).

 

Port Davidson Weir

Located on the Welland River, fish for poke, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white and black crappie, brown and yellow bullhead, channel catfish, pumpkinseed and carp.

 

Ruigrok Tract

Hunting is permitted for deer and small game.

 

St. Johns

Fish for rainbow trout in Twelve Mile Creek Pond (stocked annually). This area features wheelchair access fishing peirs and boardwalk. Last Saturday in April through trout season.

 

Stevensville

Fish in Black Creek or the by-pass pond for largemouth bass, northern pike, grass pickerel, yellow perch, crappie, bullhead, sucker and carp.

 

Virgil Dams & Reservoirs

Fish on Four Mile Creek for largemouth bass and carp.

 

Wainfleet Bog

Hunting is permitted for deer and small game within designated areas. Restricted zone near Erie Peat Road entrance (see entrance sign at Erie Peat Road).

 

Wainfleet Wetlands

Fish for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, pumpkinseed, bluegill, yellow perch, white crappie, sunfish, sucker, drum and channel catfish in abandoned quarries and clay pits. Hunting is permitted for deer, small game and waterfowl from Cement Plant Road boundary west, to the east side of Bessey Road.

 

Willoughby Marsh

Hunting is permitted for deer, small game, and waterfowl.
