The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority is committed to providing exceptional stewardship to achieve and maintain a healthy and sustainable environment. The Watershed Stewardship Program was developed to implement the recommendations of Watershed Plans for the watersheds 32 Local Management Areas (LMA) identified in the Niagara Water Quality Protection Strategy (NWQPS). Works under this program focus on the improvement of local water quality and habitat diversity (wetland/woodland rehabilitation), Best Management Practices for agriculture, naturalization projects, and stream-bank stabilization/bioengineering techniques.

Through the ongoing support of our project partners the NPCA delivers a comprehensive cost-sharing program that offers local landowners financial incentives to implement water quality and habitat improvement projects on their properties. In addition to providing financial assistance to landowners, NPCA staff will conduct one-on-one site visits providing technical advice about environmental concerns and assisting landowners with hands-on water quality and habitat improvement projects.
Every year we look for new opportunities to expand and build on the services that we can offer to the residents of the Niagara Peninsula watershed. Stewardship is something that everyone can participate in to improve the health of our natural environment. If you have a project that you think will help to improve local water or biodiversity we would like to help get you started.
You can make a difference in your community and we can show you how.
